I’m very excited to let you know about the 39th Annual Organ Concert Series. This year we’ve pulling out all the stops for a tremendous season. From the opening notes of Paul Jacob’s all Bach concert, to the final heroic chords of Mary Preston’s performance of Max Reger’s Hallelujah! Gott zu loben, this season promises to be one of inspiration, admiration and variety. Hector Olivera will be on hand to liven up your holidays with his unique brand of improvisation; David Briggs puts his own spin on the Fourth Symphony by Tchaikovsky in a new transcription from organ, while I present the exciting music of Charles Marie Widor and Karg-Elert. By popular demand, we have included an Organ Crawl on our season in order to give our audience a chance to see the inner workings of The Great Organs up close and personal. In addition, I know you will want to join First Church and The American Guild of Organists in honoring one of the great organists of our time, Frederick Swann, in a Gala Benefit performance that is sure to be one for the history books. Thomas Hunter Russell continues to provide his informative and often amusing prefaces to each concert, while William Zeiler curates The Great Organs, ensuring that each of the 265 stops sounds its best. The Season’s details are inside, so I cordially invite you to join us for this fantastic season where we’re truly pulling out all the stops!
