From the Senior Minister

Welcome to First Congregational Church of Los Angeles!

As the new Senior Minister of this congregation, I am especially excited about our future together and hope you will consider becoming part of our community of faith.

First Church is one of the most beautiful churches in the country. Whether you are looking at the wonderful stained glass windows, contemplating the inspiring arches within the Nave, or listening to the marvelous music coming from the world’s largest church pipe organ, everything at First Church announces the living presence of God.

People often wonder... What is the church like? What will I discover there? What kind of people attend? Will I be welcome? And what does the church really believe? All good questions to be sure, and to that end I would offer the following...

At First Church you will find a loving, caring, compassionate congregation, the kind of people more interested in accepting rather than judging you.

At First Church you will find a congregation that believes in the love of God revealed to the world in many different ways, but especially in the remarkable life of Jesus Christ.

At First Church you will find encouragement to use both your mind and heart when it comes to foraging a dynamic faith in God.

At First Church you will find a place that will not give easy, clichéd answers about God, but a community where questions are honored and people are encouraged to think and feel and discover their personal faith.

At First Church you will find lovely, inspiring music every Sunday, a dignified yet vital service of worship, and preaching that will inspire your journey of faith.

At First Church you will find a congregation with an illustrious history, parts of which reach back to the founding of this country, but also a congregation ready to move into the future in service to the world.

At First Church you will find one of the city’s finest schools, Pilgrim School, a place that educates and inspires young people.
